Security company Malwarebytes released version 3.0 a few days ago. According to the company, the new release marks a major step in its policy for the rollout of individual security tools.
So instead of releasing the well-known Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware as separate applications, Malwarebytes decided to integrate them all into one product. Malwarebytes 3.0 looks at first glance like it's an upgrade to Anti-Malware, but there are key differences.
Users who prefer free applications will be able to have on-demand scanning capability as before, but they will not have access to Anti-Exploit or Anti-Ransomware which is now offered only as a paid service.
We remind that previously the standalone version of Anti-Exploit was offered both free and paid, and the Anti-Ransomware application was available free only as a beta before the official release of version 3.0.
With the new version we also noticed that:
Malwarebytes distributes version 3.0 for free as well as a trial and Premium. However it removed all links of the standalone Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware applications from its website.
Additionally, if you had installed the software before version 3, Malwarebytes 3.0 will uninstall all previous versions of Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware during the installation process.
This happens even if you are using Malwarebytes 3.0 Free (which does not support Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware).
If the above has stripped you of your clothes, there is a solution. As we mentioned, the company removed every download link for the standalone Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware applications from its website.
Thus, all you need to do is find a copy of the latest Anti-Exploit installer and reinstall the program after installing Malwarebytes 3.0 on your computer.
You can find a download link for the latest version on the official Malwarebytes forum.
The company plans to offer a “continuous beta” version of Anti-Exploit for free.
