It's no surprise that Microsoft is trying to make the most of Apple to promote its services, and the CallKit framework that will be integrated into iOS 10 is no exception.
In a blog post today, the software giant explains how it's using CallKit to make Skype for Business easily accessible to iPhone users. The new technology lets you handle calls from the lock screen or the call screen just like the default phone app.
For example, Skype for Business now lets you answer calls directly from the lock screen, but also gives you the option to switch between Skype and classic calling.
"iPhone users can accept an incoming call directly from the lock screen. They don't need to unlock the phone or launch the Skype for Business app to receive the call," Microsoft explains.
Skype for Business calls will appear and behave just like regular calls - including being able to show the caller's name on the lock screen.
CallKit integration makes it possible for users to switch from Skype for Business to regular lines and another VoIP application that supports the framework, and finally gives them the ability to see all Skype information from their phone's call history.
It goes without saying that in order to take advantage of all these features you will need to be running the latest version of iOS, as well as the fully updated Skype for Business client for iOS.
