ESET designed a free decryptor for encryption virus victims, aiming to help users whose data has been encrypted by ransomware from the Crysis family (detected by ESET as Win32/Filecoder.Crysis).
The tool was designed using the original decryption keys, which were recently released via a forum on BleepingComputer.com.
The Crysis malware family became known after one of its main «competitors» , TeslaCrypt, stopped its activities early this year. Its spread through multiple channels has been detected by ESET systems thousands of times worldwide.
Those who have fallen victim to the Crysis ransomware can download the Crysis decryptor from ESET from the «free utilities» page or from the link at the end of the post.
For information on using the tool, users can refer to the ESET Knowledgebase.
It is worth noting that the new variants of this ransomware family may use newer keys, making decryption of the affected files impossible.
