Facebook is introducing a new, quite impressive, feature to the photos and videos we choose to publish. Now our personal moments will look like works of art thanks to the new feature of the platform that is a sign of progress and can boost the development of AI functions in applications.
The new feature, officially called Style Transfer, is currently being tested in Ireland and is set to launch globally soon. It will allow users to edit their photos and videos in a more artistic way with filters inspired by classic works of art.
What sets the new feature apart from other photo editing applications is the use of a neural network that is programmed to recreate the style of famous artists in the depictions of our personal moments.
According to reports, since Neural networks act like other AI functions, the smartphone's processing power will not be sufficient to perform their function.
One might say that introducing new filters is not a very innovative idea. However, Style Transfer has the basic technology to introduce a new framework, called Cafe2 Go, which will help develop more AI features.
Style Transfer records the filters we typically use on our photos and videos and in subsequent posts suggests possible editing options that would be more suitable for us.
So, in a short time, if Facebook introduces the new Style Transfer, we won't need to edit our photos and videos since the platform will do it for us.
