In 2014, when Apple released the iPhone 6, a hoax circulating online claimed that the device could be charged in a microwave. It was only a matter of time before some people were found cooking their iPhones without actually charging them.
The same thing seems to be happening again with the iPhone 7, but this time in a completely different way. A video posted online by YouTuber TechRax claims that owners of the new iPhone 7 can get a headphone jack that is not present on the device by drilling a hole next to the secondary speaker.
Although for some it is very clear that this is a prank, there were also those who took the drill and opened the hole. Did it work? No. Do the phones still work? No.
Some of the comments already posted on YouTube went viral as some people made the hole in their iPhone and are now threatening to sue the video uploader.
“Dude are you serious?! I paid $800 for this thing and now it turns on but the screen just shows a few dots. I think my phone is dead! F**k my mom is going to be pissed! I hope insurance covers this.”
“I am a full-time college student, and I spent my savings on this phone!!! Now it flickers on and off and the speaker no longer works! My uncle is a lawyer and I will sue.”
“Thanks bro, I ruined my iPhone 7, $700 in the trash, thanks.”
Watch the video and stay away from drills… Your mom will be pissed!
