Parents sued for posting children's photos on Facebook

You might be able to handle it, but a teenager from Austria couldn't handle her parents uploading her childhood photos to Facebook.

The 18-year-old sued her parents when her pleas to take down the photos went unheeded.baby facebook

"They knew I was embarrassed and they had no boundaries," he told a local newspaper.

“They didn’t care if it was a photo of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in a swing. They published every photo.”

The woman whose name is mentioned repeatedly asked her parents to download the nearly 500 photos from the largest social network, and they refused.

“I'm tired of not being taken seriously.”

Hopefully the lawsuit will help. Her lawyer Michael Rami thinks he can prove that the photos violate her right to privacy.

Some countries have laws regarding this. In France, for example, violating your children's privacy can land you in prison.

Austria does not have a similar law, so if the court issues a conviction, things could change, due to res judicata.

The teenager's father, however, believes he has every right to share the photos of his daughter on Facebook. The court date has been set for November.
