After the release of the new iOS 10 that we mentioned earlier, some users started reporting problems after over-the-air (OTA) updates they performed on their devices. What does OTA mean? If you download the new operating system directly from your device and do not use iTunes to download and install.
The issue presented is common: When the update begins, it leaves users in front of a black screen that says “Connecting to iTunes.” This fact forces owners who are stuck in the middle of the installation to re-download the firmware from their computer and start the installation from the beginning.
iOS 10 update issue that bricked iPhones and iPads is now resolved, according to Apple. https://t.co/4nxDqoBNJt pic.twitter.com/9vAw7K6NgN

The problem, of course, is much greater for users who did not make the necessary backup before the update.
However, as seen on Twitter, the problem is not observed on all devices.
Apple, on the other hand, claims that the problem has been fixed, according to a tweet from 9to5 Mac.

Users, however, are still reporting the problem, so perhaps Apple hasn't finally managed to fix it as it claims.
So if you absolutely must upgrade your operating system to iOS 10 today, it would be a good idea to make a full backup before you start.
However, the update I did on an iPhone 6 Plus OTA from 9.3.5 went fine without any problems.
