The preparations for WordCamp Athens 2016 are in full swing. The Organizing Team of the largest technology conference in Greece for 2016 announced the first sponsors of the conference, the first speakers, the holding of the Contributor Day, while not omitting to bless her beard to present itself to the Greek WordPress community and beyond.
Contributor Day
On Sunday, November 20, 2016, exactly one day after the main event of WordCamp Athens 2016, Contributor Day will be held at the welcoming space of the coworking space Found.ation, Evrystheos 2 & Piraeus 123. Contributor days are the culmination of a WordCamp. They are the opportunity for each member of the community to meet in a relaxed atmosphere with organizers and speakers with the main purpose of familiarizing themselves with the ways and means by which they can give back some of the good energy they will have absorbed the previous day. Experienced members of the local WordPress community will be there to guide you in this.
60 selected participants of WordCamp Athens 2016 will take part in the contributor day. Registration for this day will be announced in the coming days. Places will be allocated strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. The list will be FIFO . That is, a queue . So, hurry up!
The First 6 Speakers
The Organizing Team has a headache, because it has received many good applications for speaking at WordCamp Athens. The first keynote speakers have already been selected.
WordCamp Athens is excited to welcome the first group of speakers who will share their experiences and knowledge with us. Introducing Petya Raykovska, Nemanja Aleksic , and Gerasimos Tsiamalos.
The second group of speakers consists of Stella Kasdagli, Yoav Farhi, and Fotis Routsis. All three will provide their valuable insights on issues related to content, WP-CLI, and open data, respectively.
The Team
Near the end of May, when everyone was getting ready for their first trips to the beaches, the WordPress Athens meetup team started scouting. Not for some big transfer to a football team, but to find the right people to help organize the first WordCamp Athens in Greece. Within a few days, the team was found. Fifteen WordPress junkies, with diverse backgrounds and professions, held their first online hangout and shared responsibilities.
Who are they? We introduce them to you.
Of course, preparations for WordCamp are continuing at full speed. So don't forget to check out the conference sponsorship packages, learn more about the venue , and -of course- buy your tickets.
