Ludwig Nussel announced the availability of the first beta build of openSUSE 42.2. The upcoming new stable version will be officially released on November 16, 2016 if all goes well with development.
“OpenSUSE 42.2 Beta 1 is ready for download. Even though it is called beta 1, the base system is mostly in sync with SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 RC2. Therefore, it is safe enough to use on most systems.
So, as part of a thorough review, please submit any bug reports.
Compared to the Alpha 3 release, we fixed a lot of bugs, and of course, more than a thousand binary packages were ported from Factory.
The biggest missing component now is the Plasma 5.8 that was announced earlier. The amount of development failures has set us back but we thank everyone for your help with this, but we didn't find the time to fix the problems.
The upcoming beta 2 is only three weeks away, and package submissions for beta 2 will be reviewed until September 15.”

S.S.: OpenSUSE is one of our preferred distributions, as it has a huge community that supports it, and of course we should not forget the support from the developers of SUSE Linux Enterprise, one of the most reliable distributions for servers and businesses in general.
