Mozilla today released Firefox 5.0 for iOS devices. The new version features improvements to performance and battery life.
The new app supports more search engines, comes with a new menu, option to restore old tabs, and a home button.
You can download the new version from the Apple App Store (link at the end of the post).
The Mozilla Foundation does not usually report exact Firefox usage numbers, although it has reported that “half a billion people worldwide” use the browser.
Firefox for iOS devices was released as a public preview in September 2015 and as a stable release in November 2015.
Firefox 5.0 brings significant improvements to performance and battery life. Firefox iOS engineer Tyler Lacroix said he personally saw a 40 percent reduction in CPU usage and up to a 30 percent reduction in memory usage with this latest version of Firefox.
