After taking off from Hawaii at 6:30 a.m., and after 62 hours of flight, pilot Bertrand Piccard and Solar Impulse 2 successfully landed at Moffett Airfield, California.
The “solar” pilot reported feeling great after a day of travel.
For those who don't remember, the solar-powered aircraft Solar Impulse 2 is trying to circumnavigate the globe, but it remained grounded 9 months after its record-breaking journey from Japan to Hawaii.
New pilot Andre Borschberg will take over the next leg of the journey, from California to New York.
From there, they will plan its next destination, based on weather conditions and what they have learned about the aircraft's behavior, as they continue their journey to Abu Dhabi, where it first took off in March 2015.
