The US Department of Justice recently announced that it has unlocked another iPhone involved in a New York drug case. The FBI, according to the announcement, was able to hack the device without the help of third parties.
This is the second iPhone the FBI has cracked in two months, raising concerns that the feds could crack more devices with their unlocking software.
Of course, the service's secrecy prevents us from knowing whether they used the same method to unlock the New York iPhone as they did in the San Bernardino case.
The FBI said at the time that the hack used on the San Bernardino iPhone could only be used on the iPhone 5C model. The New York iPhone was a 5S running iOS 7.
Apple has yet to issue a statement on the matter, but the company's line is well-known.
The worrying thing about the above news is that it appears that the FBI has the means or know-how to hack some iPhone models.
This fact is of course not to the liking of Apple customers, but neither is the company, which is unaware of the vulnerability that the FBI is using to fix it.
