After weeks, it appears that the dispute between the FBI and Apple is ending today, at least in the federal court where it all began.
The US government has officially announced that it has managed to gain access to the iPhone 5C used by San Bernardino terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook.
"The FBI has now successfully recovered the data stored on the San Bernardino terrorists' iPhone and therefore no longer requires Apple's assistance as required by this court order," said US Department of Justice spokeswoman Melanie Newman.
The Justice Department also said (as expected) that the method the feds used to unlock the device only works on this particular phone, which is an iPhone 5C running a version of iOS 9.
Of course, this statement is very convenient for the Feds, who don't want to report the security flaw to Apple..

However, experts argue that breaking into a single phone is impossible, and that once the vulnerability is found it could easily be used to access any device.
