PearOS is an Ubuntu-based operating system. The distribution is clearly inspired by the Mac OS X desktop design.
The PearOS desktop is a highly customized version of GNOME, an open source desktop environment used by most popular Linux operating systems. After installation, you will notice a panel and dock that will remind you of Mac OS X.
Of course, as you'll notice in the image below, everything resembles Mac OS, so much so that there's probably a legal problem. Even the Firefox icon has been changed to Safari!
The default applications include the well-known: Nautilus file manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email client, Shotwell image viewer, Evince document viewer, Empathy instant messenger, Gedit text editor, Musique audio player, and Synaptic Package Manage.
The operating system is distributed in two live DVD ISO images, for 64-bit and 32-bit architectures.
Unfortunately, development of PearOS stopped in early 2014, and it was acquired by an unknown company.
We list the latest download links with the developers' publication on the project page:
The EarOS is not a Linux distribution, it is Ubuntu with MacOSX theme, based on ubuntu 14:04 and modified gnome shell.
The basis of the system is completely ubuntu.
It is a remaster of private use and is not for profit and commercial.
