Yesterday, the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system had another update to its kernel.
This time, the LTS has been updated to accept the latest stable version of the Linux kernel 4.4.6, just ahead of the final Beta release later today, March 24th.
At the moment we don't know if this kernel version will be added to the final Beta ISOs, but if you're interested, you can easily install it from the repositories.
After today's final Beta, the development cycle of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) is coming to an end. The kernel upgrade freeze will take effect on April 7th, and we will probably see an RC (Release Candidate) version around April 14th (without being made public).
Thus, the final version of the Ubuntu 16.04 operating system will be released, as planned, on April 21.
