The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate investigated a case of child pornography and pornographic performances against a 16-year-old Greek national and filed a regular procedure case against a 22-year-old Greek national.
Specifically, the investigation into the case began following a complaint from the 16-year-old's mother, according to which an unknown user published material of the minor on a social networking page, as well as shared the material, via personal message, with her minor friend.
According to the complaint, the unknown perpetrator approached the minor on a social networking page and managed, through pressure and threats, to extract two nude photos of her as well as an audio and video file with pornographic content, in which she is depicted.
After the above allegations were brought to the attention of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office, the Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime was ordered to conduct a Preliminary Examination to investigate the allegations.
As part of the preliminary investigation, a thorough and in-depth police investigation was conducted of digital evidence and data, and correspondence was exchanged with the social networking page and the relevant internet service providers, from which the involvement of the 22-year-old Greek national in the case emerged.
It was found that the 22-year-old, in order to maintain his anonymity and make it difficult to locate him, when connecting to the controversial account on the social networking page, was gaining access from free wireless networks in the wider area of his place of residence.
The above perpetrator, who was identified by the victim as the owner of the social networking website profile in question, was not arrested, because the conditions for the automatic procedure were not met against him.
The regular procedure file that was formed will be resubmitted to the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office.
