The KeysForge app will give you printable key designs using just a photo of a lock.
The KeysForge app was developed by three academics and allows anyone to 3D print a key from a photo of a lock.
Assistant Professor Eric Wustrow from the University of Colorado and two colleagues unveiled their work at the Chaos Communications conference in Hamburg last month.
The app tries to create a black and white image and distinguish the keyhole. It then starts looking for the largest black spot to trace the path and shape of the key.
The tool creates a CAD model of a key from an image of a lock. This model can then be 3D printed in plastic or metal.
