A leaked document from the Mozilla Foundation shows a tablet running Firefox OS, a TV stick, a router, and even a computer keyboard.
Earlier this month, the Mozilla Foundation announced that Firefox OS smartphones would not be sold through mobile carriers. The company declined to say what it plans for Firefox OS, other than to say that it wants to experiment with “connected devices.”
Today, we have a leaked document that confirms what the Mozilla Foundation claimed.
The leak came from Spanish blog Hipertextual. The document, as you can see, shows four new devices running Firefox OS: a tablet, a router, a smart TV stick, and a computer keyboard. VB has asked the Mozilla Foundation for more information.
“At Mozilla, we are working and still in the early stages of exploring and prototyping new use cases for Firefox OS in the world of connected devices,” said Denelle Dixon-Thayer, Mozilla’s head of business and legal. But what about the above products?
“This document is an early concept of the project by one of our developers,” Dixon-Thayer confirms. Like any tech company, Mozilla loves to experiment with new ideas. The company did not confirm that these projects are currently in development, only that a concept has been created by a developer.
So there is a chance that we will never see some of the devices shown in the images.
The Mozilla Foundation did not provide any additional information, but we expect that at the next CES we will probably find out exactly what it is preparing.
