How many times have you complained to your Internet service provider about the speeds you get? It's rare for the speed advertised by the company (especially in Greece) to be the same as the speed you get at home.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has decided to resolve the matter, according to TNW.
Mr. Schneiderman asked New Yorkers to test the speed of their connections and submit the results to his office.
His statement states:
“By conducting these tests, consumers can uncover whether they are receiving the internet speeds they are paying for.”
The three companies at the forefront are Time Warner Cable, Verizon and Cablevision. The Attorney General has asked ISPs to provide evidence of whether the speeds they advertise to consumers are real.
The crowdsourcing of the test results will go to Mr. Schneiderman to see for himself what is happening.
So New York residents who wish to submit their data will first have to run a test on the website internethealthtest.org, take a screenshot and upload it to the Attorney General's website with some additional information about their connection, provider and location.
