Adobe Faces lets you design fonts

A while ago, Lee Brimelow, Adobe's chief product designer, gave us a quick preview of one of Adobe's upcoming projects, codenamed Faces, which in theory will allow users to create and design their own fonts.

For many years, the art of typography was limited to a few who were willing to put in the time and effort to learn typesetting techniques, complex programs, and combine all of this with modern software such as Adobe Illustrator or FONTLAB Studio.

Adobe's Faces project aims to simplify all of this and therefore allow each user to design their own fonts. To see how easy it can be, just watch the video below and see that everything is set up with a few horizontal bars.

The technology behind Project Faces dates back to Adobe's efforts in 1998, when it purchased a small Windows 98 application called Ares Font Chameleon , which, just like Project Faces, allowed users to, to some extent, change the properties of a font with a few slider buttons.

At the moment, Project Faces has not been released outside of Adobe's offices, but as can be seen from the video, the app works flawlessly on iOS.
