Social: To what extent can we share data?

Sharing on social networking sites (Social Media) has become a double-edged sword. It is fun to share data from your lives, as it helps you stay closer to your own and your loved ones, but sometimes the data available on social networks (social media) is so abundant that it can jeopardize your personal security.privacy Social Social Social Social

The question that concerns us is: To what extent can we share data on social media before it becomes a problem for us and others?

When they contain information about your current location

The sharing of data on social networks can become a real personal security issue when you reveal your current location. Every time you do “check-in”, to show your friends where you are, you should know that the information is not visible only to your close friends.

You should realize that by publishing a geographic tag with a selfie while you are on vacation, it lets anyone know that you are not at home.

Of course, we should also mention tagging children, as they reveal the child's identity to strangers. Even if the tag does not use the child's real name, someone collecting information can learn a lot, such as who the parents are and where they live.
It should be mentioned that this information can be used to trick the child, gaining their trust.

So keep the tags for yourself as well as your check-ins. Do not do it for others unless you have their explicit permission.

When you share data from your work

Every time you feel the urge to talk about an incident at your work, you should think about it very carefully. You could potentially lose your job, especially if you publish something bad about your boss or the company you work for. As an employee, you are a representative of the company you work for, and your words and actions could potentially cause it harm.

Even if you delete what you wrote, someone may have managed to take a screenshot, which could end up in the hands of your supervisor or in the local news.

Let's also mention the possibility of leaking proprietary information, which could give a competitor an advantage. Example: you post that you are very stressed because you have a deadline to meet for the presentation of a new product.
So a competitor could present their product before yours.
