Microsoft has just released an update that fixes a very critical vulnerability in all versions of Windows.
The vulnerability was discovered by security researchers from Google's Project Zero and FireEye.
The patch is available right now and you would do well to apply it immediately, via Windows Update.
The company said in a statement that the vulnerability, if exploited, could “allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted document or visits an untrusted website that contains embedded OpenType fonts.”
"An attacker could install programs, view, change, or delete data. They could also create new accounts with full user rights," according to the company's warning.
In other words, the vulnerability lies in the way Windows handles certain fonts and could allow hackers to take complete control of a system.
Users using Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Windows RT, or Windows Server 2008 would do well to upgrade their computers immediately.
