Windows 10 is expected to be released in the second half of 2015, while Technical Preview builds are already being released for those who wish to try the new operating system.
Information leaked from Windows 10 build 10036 and published on the MDL forum reveals that Microsoft is preparing some new versions of the operating system that could appear later this year, in order to better address all markets.
First of all, Microsoft will continue to offer the traditional Core and Professional editions of Windows 10, with the latter version including Media Center. The Enterprise and Embedded SKUs will continue to be released. The Windows 10 with Bing edition appears to be “Connected” according to the new information that has been leaked.
The existing Windows 8.1 with Bing SKUs have also been renamed to “Connected,” so Microsoft is likely to continue offering a Bing-branded version of Windows 10.Windows 8.1 with Bing is being offered to manufacturers at a lower price or even for free, which could be a sign that the company is likely to follow the same path with Windows 10.
The leaked screenshot shows two SKUs. The first is the Education SKU, which is most likely a special edition of Windows 10 aimed specifically at the education sector and will be available at a special price.
The second SKU has been codenamed “S,” which is likely to replace the previous “N” editions that were available for Windows 8.1. The “N” editions carry the exact same features, but allow you to choose the default media player and software for working with media files. These editions are designed for Europe.
Microsoft has not yet confirmed these versions for Windows 10, and this will probably only happen when the operating system reaches a more advanced stage of development.
