Memex the first Deep Web search engine

Memex: A year ago, the US government's Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced that it was trying to create a powerful new search engine that could index the Deep Web that conventional search engines like Google could not reach until now.Memex Deep Web Search Engine

The project, called the Memex Deep Web Search Engine, is still under development. Last Sunday, we got our first glimpse of what the Memex search engine, designed to fight crime, can do. The Pentagon's research agency gave Scientific American a preview of the software it created and an exclusive 60-minute presentation of the advanced technology.

The Deep Web is known to be teeming with illegal activities, such as child pornography, drug dealing, cybercrime, human trafficking, weapons, and anything else you can imagine. But because the Deep Web is buried so deep, conventional search engines have been unable to access it, at least until now, according to what the developer, DARPA.

The Memex search engine is trying to secure the entire Internet from hackers, human traffickers, child pornography, and other criminals. The Deep Web search engine was designed to overcome the above problems by expanding “the reach of today’s search engine capabilities.”

The inventor of the Memex search engine, Chris White, explained how the new search engine works and how it could revolutionize law enforcement investigations.
