GoBe is a wrist device designed to count calories in the human body. The company that built the device claims that the machine has the ability to count the calories that the wearer consumes. This great discovery already has many enemies…
Despite the uniqueness of its «δουλειάς» , the originality of GoBe is not focused on its functionality, which is identical to similar bracelets that measure heartbeats, but on a special algorithm that adapts to it. One of the founders of HealBe, George Mikaberize emphasizes that the equations involved in the algorithm required about a decade to be put into practice.
The challenge
Despite this impressive discovery, there are many opponents of the device. In particular, many medical experts view GoBe as a big scam, as they believe that the software-algorithm operation cannot lead to accurate results.
The fact that the device was not created by a giant company but by HealBe is another reason the product is not appreciated. Mikaberize, however, strongly disagrees with this idea:
«It is not necessary that big ideas come from big companies. Take Tesla as an example. I have not seen electric cars being produced by BMW, Mercedes, or Chevrolet. Smaller companies show a greater willingness to learn something new and to promote something disruptive in the market, he noted.».
The experiment
At the initiative of the BBC, the reliability of GoBe was examined in an experiment in which Mikaberitze himself participated. The results of the experiment showed that Mikaberitze consumed 514 calories out of the 555 that should have been the correct indication, with the accuracy rate reaching 85%, which was judged absolutely positive.
Among the heads of the CCS Insight technology council's research, Ben Gunter, reports:
«GoBe could become the Holy Grail of such devices – bracelets», he said, while concluding that:
«The real big benefits will come if the device’s algorithm is also given to other companies»
So far, 6,000 units have been released to the market, with their impressions expected to help determine whether the product is indeed very good enough to be genuine.
