Traveling around the Earth at a speed of over 28,000 kilometers per hour, the crew of the International Space Station (ISS) managed to celebrate the arrival of the New Year... 16 times.
The multinational orbital complex completes a full orbit of the Earth every 90 minutes and sees sunrise and sunset 16 times a day.
Officially, the year 2015 began for the station at 02:00 Greek time on January 1, midnight Greenwich Mean Time.
At that time the crew was supposed to be sleeping, but made an exception because of New Year's.
The New Year's toasts were made with fruit juice, NASA.
The next important day for the station will be January 6, the feast of Epiphany in Greece, when the Dragon spacecraft carrying supplies is scheduled to launch.
Two American astronauts, an Italian woman, and three Russian cosmonauts are currently living on the station.
