Facebook today launched its own page, called FBTechwire. The page will feature real-time technology news, discussions, and other events for users of the social network.
In a post, the company said the Techwire page is powered by Storyful and will feature content that can be embedded into news stories by journalists. The content will also be distributed on Twitter through a dedicated account.
The move is clearly an attempt to compete with Twitter, which has become known for the immediacy of news transmission, making the micro-blogging network a valuable tool for journalists.
The launch of FB Techwire follows the introduction of FB Newswire in April of this year.
