SanDisk has launched the world's highest capacity SD card, with a capacity of 512 GB .
According to the company, the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I memory card is the highest capacity SD card on the market, and is designed to meet the needs of professionals who require advanced equipment to meet the demands of recording 4K Ultra High Definition (3840x2160p) video, Full HD video (1920x1080) and high speed burst mode photography.
As Dinesh Bahal, vice president of product marketing at SanDisk, said, 4K Ultra HD is an example of a technology that “is driving us to develop new storage solutions capable of handling massive file sizes. The 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card is an impressive advancement, allowing professionals to reliably store more footage on a single card than ever before.”
As stated in the company’s announcement, since 2003, when SanDisk unveiled its first 512MB SD card, capacity requirements have increased significantly, and the 512GB card represents a 1,000x increase in capacity in just over a decade, yet remains the same size. The card delivers write speeds of up to 90MB/s and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) recording speed for high-resolution, natural-color, and stutter-free 4K Ultra HD video. Transfer speeds of up to 95MB/s result in fast data transfers.
To meet the demands of professionals, the card is specially designed to withstand and respond to extreme environmental conditions (temperature, water, vibration, radiation), while it is accompanied by a special offer of software download for recovering photos that have been accidentally deleted.
