The well-known BigBoss repository, one of the largest and most popular repositories for tweaks for jailbroken devices on Cydia, has reportedly been hacked.
Cydia is an iOS application that allows users to find and install software packages for jailbroken Apple iOS devices, such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Most of the software packages available through Cydia are free, but there are also some that are available for a fee. The BigBoss repository is a default page on jailbroken devices from Cydia.
The hackers who claimed responsibility for the attack, called “Kim Jong-Cracks” and managed to gain access to all packages, free and paid. Immediately after that, they created their own repository and started making all BigBoss applications available for free.
To prove that all the packages are genuine, they uploaded the Proof.log to their repo, which shows that the initial MD5 has not been tampered with. The hackers announced the hack on Reddit.
The hackers named their site ipBigBoss, and they claim to offer all 13,954 BigBoss packages for free.
We do not recommend installing these packages, of course, just as we do not recommend jailbreaking an iOS device.
