Symantec has introduced a new unified solution that offers data protection and provides backup and recovery solutions across all physical and virtual environments of an enterprise.

This is the Backup Exec 2014, which builds on the features of previous versions, while also offering new features that include up to 100% faster backup and recovery, Windows Server 2012, optimized backup and recovery, extensive cloud support and seamless migration, as well as upgrade capabilities.
Key features of Backup Exec 2014 include the ability to protect against physical and virtual architectures with a single solution that backs up to virtually any storage device, achieving fast, efficient and flexible recovery.
At the same time, it provides up to 100% faster and more reliable backup and deduplication performance, including VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, compared to previous versions of the software.
A particular highlight is the ability to check the status of backup jobs from a single location. IT administrators can save time and simplify backup job creation by backing up and managing multiple servers with a single backup job.
The application also offers simplified upgrade capabilities. This is achieved through intuitive wizards and insightful dashboards, which the application makes using and managing easily, regardless of whether you are upgrading from a previous version or migrating from an alternative solution.
Symantec Backup Exec 2014 is available from June 2, 2014 and as announced, service packs will be released every 90 days with Backup Exec 2014 Service Pack 1 scheduled for release in September 2014.
