Facebook changes default settings for new users

It's hard to believe that there are still people in the world who aren't on Facebook, but it seems that's the truth. The company seems to be trying to make sure everyone has the necessary security in their account settings, even before they get familiar with the complex platform.

So with an announcement, the social network said that starting today, every new account will be set by default to display what is posted only to the account's friends, and not to the entire world.

“While some people want to post for everyone, others have told us they are more comfortable sharing their posts with a smaller group, like just their friends. We recognize that it is much worse for someone to accidentally share what they post with the whole world than to share it with just their friends,” Facebook says.

This means that from now on, when a new member signs up for Facebook, the default setting for their posts will be set to their friends, and not Public, as it was until now.
It is perhaps unnecessary to mention that the privacy settings for posts can be changed at any time if a “newbie” does not want Facebook’s default setting.
