Following the initial revelations that exposed the NSA's activities, the Tor Foundation announced in July that it would launch a new Instant Messenger tool that would provide complete protection for its users. The new Tor Project seems to be not far from completion.
It's called Tor Bundle Instant Messaging, and it will allow people to communicate in real time, maintaining their anonymity, using chat servers run by the hidden Tor network.
A test version of the tool should be available to users by the end of March, according to the Foundation's plans.
The project is funded by an anonymous organization. The Tor Bundle Instant Messaging will work with the Instantbird messenger, an open source application, and will provide end-to-end encryption.
Before the new project is released to the public, it will be tested by an independent security firm to verify whether the software is indeed secure.
Of course, after all that we have learned recently, who can we trust?
