While Apple races to patch a major OS X security flaw after it unexpectedly first appeared in iOS , you can see which of the apps you should avoid using on public Wi-Fi.
The list comes from independent researcher Ashkan Soltani. Using these OS X apps on a public network in a coffee shop or airport, for example, leaves you exposed to “man in the middle” attacks, in which attackers can monitor what information you send or receive from the servers you visit.
Aside from Safari, according to Soltani's findings, you should also avoid using the following applications:
- Calendar
- Facetime
- Keynote
- iBooks
- Software Update
The above list of dangerous Apple applications may not be complete. It is the list of applications that have been discovered so far. Perhaps later the same or another security researcher will present us with a new list. Stay tuned.
