Google has announced the fourth Pwnium competition (Pwnium 4) , in which hackers will attempt to breach the security of Chromebooks (laptops running Chrome OS ) with ARM and Intel processors, with prizes totaling $2.7 million.
Specifically, competing hackers will attempt to “crack” the company’s operating system, winning prizes that can reach up to $150,000, depending on the conditions and difficulty of their achievements. A particular challenge will be maintaining control of the systems even after reboots and other “fixes.”.
Winners will have to demonstrate the code they used to carry out their "mission" and indicate the vulnerabilities they identified.
The competition will take place on March 12 at CanSecWest in Vancouver
