Microsoft launched a new email import tool in December 2013 in an effort to make it easier for users who want to migrate from Gmail to Outlook.com.
The company recently released a video tutorial to help users through the entire process. Check it out below:
Microsoft claims that, according to a study conducted by market research firm Ipsos, one in four consumers would be willing to switch from one email platform to another if there was an easy way to do so. As a result, the company released the aforementioned video ad as well as the tool, which is none other than switchfromgmail , which does the job for you automatically and easily.
“All you need to do is follow a few simple steps to connect your Gmail account (using OAuth) to your Outlook.com account (if you don’t already have one, it’s easy to create one). Our tool will import your Gmail emails into your Outlook.com inbox, and because you’ve connected the two accounts, your Google contacts will automatically appear in Outlook.com as well.”

“The structure of your inbox, including the read/unread status of your emails, will be preserved. The new tool will also create and enable you to send emails with your Gmail account, through Outlook.com.”
Outlook.com is one of Microsoft's main weapons in the Scroogled campaign targeting Google, as the company claims that its own email service does not examine users' inboxes to tailor its ads.
