TeamViewer has reached another major release, packed with new features and support for Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 8.1. It's available today for Windows , Mac , Linux , and mobile devices .
Version 9 of the application brings several goodies to the table, such as remote session tabs, support for Wake-on-LAN, greater TeamViewer account security, and expanded overall functionality.
The current version offers the ability to open connections in different tabs for a better view of your remote activity. It also features a visual notification to warn about action on the remote computer.
Unauthorized access to your TeamViewer account is made more secure thanks to the implementation of two-factor authentication. An OTP (one-time PIN) sent to your phone is now required to log in, in case your password is compromised.
Additional features have been integrated into this revision of TeamViewer, such as copying and pasting files and text between computers. It is also possible to transfer files to computers and contacts without creating a connection.
Companies can create custom modules like QuickSupport, QuickJoin, or welcome modules under their own brand and provide them to customers through a personalized link.
Another highlight of this version is the ability to transfer videos for presentations or view YouTube movies on remote machines.
Version 9 also made some improvements to the connections and contacts to allow easy operation from touch-friendly devices. When controlling via a touchscreen, the buttons are automatically converted for better handling.
