PlayStation 4 sold out

Sales of the PlayStation 4, Sony's new video game console, have already exceeded 2.1 million units since November, when the product was launched in the American and European markets.

playstation4The PS4, which Sony describes as a multimedia content platform, is currently sold in 32 countries around the world, but not in Japan, where its sales will begin at the end of February 2014.

"PS4 has seen a historic surge in the North American market. This momentum continues unabated in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America," said Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House with satisfaction.

According to the head of Sony, production of the PS4 continues and the company is doing everything possible to ensure that prospective buyers can acquire the new product during the crucial Christmas and New Year holidays.

According to Sony, the success is explained by the extent of the software library and the wide range of functions of this console which, for example, takes advantage of the communication properties and provides access to social networking sites.

Sony had said it hoped to sell five million devices worldwide by the end of March 2014, a goal that seems likely as the number of countries in which it will be available increases.

The electronics giant was forced to postpone the launch of the new product in the Japanese market to the end of February due to delays in the development of games specifically designed for the Japanese audience, which has particular preferences.
