According to the Bangkok Post, a 28-year-old man died while charging his iPhone. The accident occurred in Klaeng Rayong, a district in the eastern part of Rayong province, eastern Thailand. Local police have named the unfortunate 28-year-old as Pisit Charnglek.
His father, Chaleaw Charnglek, said his son usually talked in his sleep and so they did not pay attention to the scream they heard at 11pm on Sunday.
The next morning, the unfortunate young man was found dead, holding his iPhone to his bare chest with severe burns on his hand.
Police officers who arrived at the scene concluded that he was killed “by an electric shock caused by the phone charger.”
It is unclear whether the charger he was using was an authentic Apple charger or a knockoff.
In a similar case reported just a few months ago, a Chinese flight attendant, Ma Aliun, died from electrocution with iPhone 5 , but Apple later confirmed that she was using a non-genuine charger.
