On November 27th, App Day hackathon . It will include seminars on how to leverage Web technologies to develop applications for Firefox OS on smartphones. There will be a competition and awards for the best applications. The App Day hackathon program is as follows:

Alexandros Davos – Retail Marketing Director and Commercial Purchasing & Supply Director, OTE Group

He is a graduate of The American College of Greece, Deree College, and holds a postgraduate degree from Nottingham Business School – Nottingham Trend University (MBA).
He has participated in numerous seminars and workshops in Greece and abroad, as well as having a continuous & active participation as a speaker in seminars and conferences on Marketing, Retailing and Customer experience.

At the beginning of his career, he worked in the largest multinational companies in the merchandising and sales sectors (3E Coca Cola, PANASONIC –INTERTECH, ELGEKA etc. 01/1994 – 06/1999). In marketing, he worked from 6/1999 to 9/2009 in companies such as SCHWARZKOFF & RILKEN SA, FRIESLAND HELLAS AEBE, GERMANOS AEEE, COSMOTE AE as Product Manager, Senior Brand Manager and Marketing Manager.

Since 9/2009, he has been Marketing Director for the company GERMANOS and Retail Marketing Director for the OTE group.

He currently holds the position of Retail Marketing Director and Commercial Purchasing & Supply Director at OTE GROUP.

John Bernard – Global Marketing Director for Firefox OS, Mozilla

John Bernard is the Global Marketing Director for Firefox OS for Mozilla. John is responsible for the launch of Firefox OS with operators and mobile phone manufacturers and has already managed promotional campaigns that have run in 11 countries in 2013. Previously, he held senior marketing positions at companies such as Sony Ericsson and LG Mobile, launching handsets and services and developing brands and market share globally. John has worked in the mobile phone sector for over 10 years with operators, retailers and the distribution channel using tools such as online marketing, ATL and BTL campaigns, public relations and sponsorships to increase awareness and familiarity with the handsets. Earlier in 2013, John was awarded the UK Marketer of the Year. He holds an MBA from Henley Management College, Great Britain, since 2002.

Frederic Harper – Senior Technical Evangelist, Mozilla

With over 10 years of experience in IT, Frédéric Harper started as a developer on various technologies and focused on web and mobile development. He spent several years promoting Microsoft's Openness by speaking about Open Source Software, Web Standards and Interoperability. Today, as one of Mozilla's Senior Technical Evangelists, Fred continues to share his passion for the Open Internet while supporting developers to effectively manage Firefox OS.

Luka Sucic – Business Development Manager & Evangelist, hub:raum

Luka has extensive experience in start-ups, mobile app development and e-commerce. Before joining hub:raum, Luka worked in the innovation department of Croatia Telekom on IPTV, OTT projects and in the search for new telecommunications projects. He works as a consultant and lecturer in the field of mobile and digital project development, helping start-ups realize their ideas and achieve business success. Luka represents hub:raum Krakow at events and other stakeholders, and is also involved in the start-up selection process. In his free time, he is involved in the development of his 3D printer and other Arduino projects.

Dr. Martin Kurze – Director Research & Innovation, Terminals, Deutsche Telekom

Martin Kurze is responsible for Terminal Research and Development at Deutsche Telekom's Research and Innovation Unit T-Labs. In this context, he is responsible for numerous development and research projects on operating systems, user platforms and device operating mechanisms. His experience and qualifications include the development of the original 2D and 3D web platforms for computers and mobile devices and services, augmented reality platforms, the development of the first Androids (2007/08) as well as many operating mechanisms and architectural systems for the web environment, including ID management and high-security systems.

Today, his responsibilities revolve around the development of Mozilla Firefox OS (formerly known as Boot-to-Gecko/B2G) for DT. In this context, he leads an international team of researchers and engineers from different scientific disciplines who are responsible for building the new mobile operating system as well as some applications for it.

Before joining T-Labs, Martin Kurze was a team leader at T-Systems, T-Nova and other companies active in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector. His professional interests revolve around system architecture, human-computer interaction, technology discovery, business development and technology strategy.

Martin Kurze holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Free University of Berlin, where he also received a degree in Chemistry. He lives in Berlin with his wife and is the proud father of three children.

Christoph Schmitz – Head of Software & Integration Management, Deutsche Telekom

Christoph Schmitz has been leading a team in Terminal Product Management at Deutsche Telekom for 6 years, focusing on software, specifications and ecosystems. As part of his responsibilities, Christoph initiated the collaboration between Firefox OS and Mozilla in autumn 2011. He is currently managing the launch of Firefox OS in Europe for DT.

Christoph has been with the Deutsche Telekom Group since 1995. Having started his career as a technician at T-Mobile System Technology, he subsequently held various management positions within the Daimler-Telecom joint venture, where he offered Telecommunications and IT services. Since 2004, Christoph has been Head of Product Management at T-Mobile International at the respective Telecom headquarters. He was actively involved in online initiatives such as DT's web'n'walk (paving the way for the company to the mobile internet) as well as in various smartphone ecosystem launches, in particular the iPhone (2007), G1-Android (2008), Windows Phone 7 (2010) and now Firefox OS.

Christoph Schmitz holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Aachen, on whose behalf he carried out his thesis at the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (now Telekom Paris Tech) in Paris.

Panos Astithas – Firefox Engineer, Developer Tools Team

Panos Astithas is a software engineer at Mozilla, working on Firefox developer tools. He has worked for over 15 years as a senior developer with a focus on development and architecture in various companies. With a range of activities from back-end and front-end platform development to desktop and mobile applications, Panos is always looking for new challenges and new areas of activity. Contributing to open source software for many years, he strives to serve and inspire as many people as possible through his work. He holds a PhD from the Technical University of Athens with a specialization in computer network security.

Dimitris Kalavros – #Young Entrepreneur #TEDster #Connector #Go-Getter #BusinessCraftsman

Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou is a young entrepreneur and a passionate supporter of technology. He is best known as the Founder and Curator of TEDxAthens.

He studied Law at the University of Kent and continued his studies at Queen Mary University of London, specializing in Internet and Telecommunications Law.

Dimitris has founded Away.gr (Online Media for Technology and Entrepreneurship, now a member of Nest Media), TEDxAthens (Platform of events and other actions aimed at disseminating innovative ideas), while collaborating with TechCrunch Europe, in which he writes about Greek technology companies. In the summer of 2012, he launched a digital media startup, Nest Media, together with Sofia Belouka and Thodoris Georgakopoulos.

He is also a graduate of the U.S. Department of State's “International Visitor Leadership Program” in 2013 and a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community and the Sandbox Network.

From June 2011 to September 2013, he collaborated with the German technology investment company HackFwd, in the role of Referrer for Greece and Southeastern Europe. Since March 2013, he has been a co-founder of Found.ation, a technology co-working space in the center of Athens, dealing with new entrepreneurship.
