What do a Coca-Cola bottle , the Shell logo, a Lucky Strike package , and Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives have in common? They were all designed by the same man, Raymond Loewy , one of the most influential industrial designers in history.
Today, on Loewy 's birthday , Google decided to honor him with a Doodle on the Google homepage that looks like a machine, similar to the S1 steam locomotive he designed.
The Doodle appears on Google in America.
Loewy's incredible career spanned seven decades. In 1909, he designed the Ayrel aircraft. In 1942, the white Lucky Strike. In the 1950s, he redesigned the Coca-Cola. The Studebaker Avanti automobile in 1963. The United States Postal Service logo in 1970, as well as the interior of Skylab . Loewy died on July 14, 1986, at the age of 92.
