New MacBook Pro. What you're buying, an inside look

Apple says it has reached new heights of performance with its new MacBook Pros . However, the company's new systems are now nearly impossible for owners to repair, according to iFixit, which has taken apart the new Macs.

Disassembling the 15-inch model first, iFixit said that internally it was similar to the 2012 model, but it had a few significant differences, such as the headphone jack now being connected to the logic board, which means that if the connector ever breaks, it will cost over $1,000 to fix. Just like last year's model, the MacBook Pro 's battery is not replaceable. It's attached to the laptop's chassis with adhesive, so even experienced technicians will have a hard time removing it. iFixit technicians also tore apart the 13-inch model and found that the battery is attached in exactly the same way. What's also important is that on both 13- and 15-inch models, the entire screen package is welded together, which means that replacing it will be very expensive, or else if something breaks we throw it away and buy another one.

Both laptops, the RAM, the battery and the SSD are not designed to be user-replaceable.

Apple offers its customers a one-year warranty for all hardware. However, if something happens after the warranty expires you will probably have to replace your entire computer. It may be more cost-effective.
