Microsoft has just announced that James Forshaw, a security researcher, is the winner of the $100,000 Windows 8.1.
Forshaw, as we reported the day before yesterday, also won some money in the IE11 Preview Bug Bounty , but it seems he managed to discover a critical security flaw in the upcoming Windows 8.1, which will of course be released after being patched.
“Coincidentally, one of Microsoft’s brightest engineers, Thomas Garnier , had also found a variant of this attack. Microsoft engineers like Thomas are constantly evaluating ways to improve security, but James’ submission was of very high quality and described several other variants. So we will award him the full $100,000,” Microsoft announced .
