The NSA 's surveillance programs were found unconstitutional in 2011 by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court .
The court ruled the intelligence gathering unconstitutional and ordered the agency to limit the collection of information, newly declassified documents. (The declassified documents, which were declassified at that time.)
According to the filing, the court concluded that the volume and nature of the information the NSA collects was “substantially different” from what the Secret Service does. The FISA court says the Constitution doesn’t let the NSA do whatever it wants.
Of course, the news could be another game of the government, since the same court (FISA) signed and gave approval for the actions of the secret service.
Since 2012, the judicial authority has received 1,789 requests from the NSA and all of them were approved.
We should think that this particular news serves Obama's statements that blame the secret services and not the government. FISA does exactly the same thing, using the constitution and blaming the evil and uncontrolled NSA. But under the table, approvals for the violation of the Constitution were given and taken.
