Samsung's latest smartphone is so hot it literally burned down an apartment in Hong Kong.
The complaint came from a man named Du, who reported to the website Xianguo.com that his Samsung Galaxy S4 burned down his entire house. Du claims that while playing a game (the “Love Machine”) he was startled by a loud bang coming from his device’s battery. He said he reacted quickly and threw the phone onto a nearby sofa, which immediately caught fire. The flames spread and caused severe damage to the house. He and his wife managed to escape without injury.
The news comes on the heels of a report that an 18-year-old from Switzerland suffered third-degree burns to her leg when a Samsung Galaxy S3 exploded in her pocket.
Mr Du said his phone, charger and battery were all genuine Samsung. Samsung Hong Kong said it was looking into the matter.
Perhaps after a detailed examination of the matter, Samsung will decide to compensate the unfortunate Mr. Du.
