NASA has released details about the new robotic explorer that will travel to Mars and conduct research there. The mission is scheduled to launch in 2020 and the robot, which has not yet been "christened", will try to detect traces of life on the Red Planet, while also conducting geological studies .

The robot will collect a multitude of soil and rock samples that NASA wants to bring to Earth for study, but at present the American space agency has not developed a plan for sending these samples to our planet.
The mission
NASA has created a special department that is working on the mission, the Mars 2020 Science Definition Team. The department consists of 19 scientists and engineers who delivered to NASA a first report on the mission. The report consists of 154 pages and as stated in it, the construction of the new robot will be based on that of previous robots that have traveled and explored the Red Planet.
The mission members said at a press conference on Tuesday that the new robot will have the most advanced systems for collecting and analyzing soil and rock samples on another planet. They even claim that the new robot's research will provide valuable data for organizing a manned mission to Mars.
