22 students from the Netherlands have unveiled what they claim is the world's first solar-powered family car.
The vehicle, dubbed “Stella,” is surprisingly lightweight and highly energy-efficient, as reported by Inhabitat. It can accommodate up to four passengers.
What's really interesting is that, under normal conditions, the Stella car produces more energy than it needs to move. The excess energy can be stored and used later by an electricity grid.
The students who worked on the design and construction of this car are convinced that Stella will give them the medal of this year's World Solar Challenge which will take place from October 6 to 13.
The World Solar Challenge is a race that takes place every two years in Australia.
