The largest non-profit global organization promoting entrepreneurship, TiE, in collaboration with the Lambrakis Press Organization and with the valuable assistance of an experienced Greek Advisory Board consisting of successful entrepreneurs, is organizing a one-day “Boot Camp” on Wednesday, July 3rd at the Concert Hall, with the participation of entrepreneurs from Greece.
The Boot Camp will host 20-30 promising Greek startups that responded to the organizers' call since February, selected through a competitive process, which will then receive guidance from TiE members.
Startups that are in the final stage of implementation will have the opportunity to meet mentors one-on-one, and others that are in the initial stage of implementation will be grouped into groups of 3 or 4 per mentor.
Mentors will rotate, giving them the opportunity to have multiple contacts with different startups. In the morning of the conference, and before the mentoring sessions, topics of general interest concerning the Greek business community will be covered.
The aim of the Boot Camp is to contribute to the development of a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem in Greece, and in this way to support the creation of new jobs, economic growth and the global connectivity of Greek entrepreneurs. It is worth noting that this initiative is not characterized by financial interest – TiE’s mission is to encourage entrepreneurship across the globe.
During the Boot Camp, TiE members will mentor and train 25-30 promising Greek startups, contributing to Greece’s growing and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Boot Camp includes an educational conference, mentoring and pitching sessions, and a networking reception.
Nikos Gouraros, Director of Strategy, Operations and Business Development, at DOL Digital Media and President of the Online Publishers Association of Europe, emphasizes that "entrepreneurship is one of the outlets that, creatively, will lead us with mathematical precision out of crisis. We just need to use all the means given to us and let young Greek entrepreneurs create and develop in the global market as equals. This will only happen through appropriate guidance" and continues by saying: "DOL therefore supports the efforts of young people, showcasing their achievements on the Greek and international business scene."
Advisory Board member and VC Nikos Bonatsos praised the Boot Camp, saying, "By organizing the 'Greek Startup Day', TiE's mission to connect and assist entrepreneurs globally,
to contribute to achieving high rates of growth for new ventures, and to be present close to Greek startups focused on new technologies is strengthened."
With so many participating teams, Advisory Board member and VC, Loukas Pilitsis, considers this event “a great opportunity for future collaboration between Greek and international VC funds, as it promotes promising Greek startups that have the potential to be co-invested, helping them achieve their goals, increase their visibility, and realize their vision.”
The President of the Competition, Stavros Messinis, also has high expectations for the Boot Camp, saying that “Greece’s excellent entrepreneurial talent will have the opportunity to shine, in the presence of some important personalities.”
Alec Karys, member of the Advisory Board and Mentor to startups, agrees that "The Boot Camp is an excellent medium for Greek entrepreneurs who seek to present their innovative ideas and talents in front of a fairly established international audience."
The Advisory Committee also includes: PK Agarwal, CEO of TiE Global, Dimitris Glezos, founder of Transifex, Alec Karys, CEO of Genesis, Dolly Oberoi, CEO of C2 Technologies, Nikos Drandakis, founder of Taxibeat and Anil Khatod Managing Director of Argonaut Private Equity.
