A report in the Korea Times reports that Apple has not included Samsung in its plans to produce the A7 processor for its iOS devices. The alternative solution that Apple seems to have found is Taiwan's TSMC, which has already started ordering equipment to produce the processor using the 20-nanometer process.
If the above information is ultimately confirmed, Apple will hit Samsung where it hurts, since their collaboration in chip production so far has brought many billions to Samsung, and certainly many of its production lines will need to be closed if Apple collaborates with another company.
"If Samsung fails to win Apple orders for A7 chips, then some of Samsung's system chip-manufacturing lines will be stopped. That's a scenario Samsung really doesn't want to see,"
