Microsoft blocks Shylock threat on Skype

The hackers behind the Shylock project , trying to develop new ways to infect more computers, also hit Microsoft's Skype platform, but the company reacted quickly enough to block the threat.

A company spokesperson told Softpedia via email that Skype users are safe, as Shylock have been completely blocked. Of course, Skype users are advised to avoid clicking on links from untrusted sources.

“We are protecting our customers by blocking the known malware identified as Backdoor: Win32/Capchaw.N, also known as Shylock. We continue to encourage customers to avoid opening links from untrusted sources and visiting untrusted websites,” the spokesperson said.
