Steven Sinofsky is no longer on Microsoft's Windows development team, but that certainly doesn't mean he's going to stop being online. He became famous for his work on Windows 7 and Windows 8, as well as his contributions to the development of Microsoft's tablet. However, Sinofsky appeared to part ways with Microsoft abruptly after the release of the company's latest operating system.
The departure was rumored to not have been voluntary.
His exit from Microsoft is rumored to have been for two main reasons: an inability to be a team player – in the Microsoft sense – and conflicts he had with the company's CEO Steve Ballmer over product decisions, TNW reports.
Today, Sinofsky announced a new blog, Learning by Shipping, which will provide a platform to continue his writing on product development.
The description he gives for his new website states:
“The focus of this blog will not be on the details of the past when it comes to Microsoft, of course. Some topics may come from current events as a basis for broader positions. In previous blogs, all topics now arose through interactions among team members. In this new blog, I am optimistic that there can be a rich dialogue about the “how” and “why” of creating new products that will serve as a springboard for publications.
Steven also intends to teach at Harvard Business School, as the author of the book, “One Strategy: Organization, Planning, and Decision Making.”.
